Haltech Ti8HP Transmission Controller Pre Order.
Available first quarter of 2027.
The Ti8HP is a transmission interface that brings the ZF 8HP eight-speed automatic into the Haltech ecosystem. It pairs with a drive-by-wire Nexus ECU
What do I need?
-
- A Gen 1 8HP45, 8HP70, or 8HP90
-
- A compatible shifter
-
- A Nexus R series, Nexus S series, Nexus Rebel, or Nexus Plug-in ECU with electronic throttle control set up
-
- A brake pedal input wired to the ECU
The 8HP has no one-way clutches, so every downshift needs a throttle blip to match revs. That is why the Ti8HP needs a drive-by-wire ECU, and why T series ECUs are not supported.
Which shifters are compatible?
-
- Factory BMW F series shifters (up/down shift)
-
- Factory BMW G series shifters (up/down shift)
-
- Factory Toyota Supra A90 shifters
-
- Wired-in paddle shifters
-
- A CAN keypad
-
- A resistor ladder
Do I need any third-party reflashing tool or software? No. The Ti8HP reads the original gearbox binary and flashes the Haltech binary through the Haltech system, so no third-party software or reflash tools are needed.
Do I need to wire anything in? Not if you are using a Nexus Rebel terminated harness, such as the Rebel LS, Rebel JZ, or Rebel K. The Ti8HP harness plugs straight in. It can also be wired in to any other drive-by-wire Nexus ECU or VCU. Either way, you will need a brake pedal input to the ECU.
Why a separate box? The 8HP’s control unit talks CAN at the OEM rate of 500 kb/s, while Haltech CAN runs at 1 Mb/s, so the two cannot share a bus. With a Ti8HP, you do not need to dedicate one of your Haltech ECU’s CAN ports to a 500 kb/s bus just for the gearbox, so the spare CAN port is free to talk to the rest of the car (ABS, a BCM, or a factory dash) and other devices. Because it comes with a plug-and-play harness, there is no need to build your own harness or buy one for a similar price. The Ti8HP keeps everything cleanly separated, which keeps installs and fault-finding simple.
